Four-point contact ball bearings are single-row angular contact ball bearings with raceways designed to transmit axial loads in both directions.
The bearings are separable, i.e. the outer ring with balls and retainer can be mounted independently of the two inner rings.
These bearings require significantly less axial space than double-row bearings.
Four-point contact ball bearings can handle large axial loads in both directions and smaller radial loads.
They can operate at high speeds and are more suitable than deep groove ball bearings for absorbing large axial forces.
The outer ring, with balls and retainers, can be mounted independently of the two halves of the inner ring.
