No. 12: Cranked Link – Slip Fit (BS/DIN) A single link with cranked plates pressed onto a bush and roller assemble at the narrow end. A clearance fit connecting pin is fitted at the wide and is secured by a split pin.

KLB - With the exception of certain types of chains that are made up of this type of links, cranked links should only be used when the chain length must be an odd number of links. However, we recommend that the chain should be tensioned with at least 2 x the chain pitch to avoid the use of cranked links. The link has 1 pin with a loose fit and scissor cotter for assembly and requires 1 chain lock at the other end for assembly into the chain.
Do not use cranked links in chain drives with high and/or shock loads or in drives with high chain speeds.
Extra info: Also called half link. In a chain drive with a cranked link, it is usually stated that the permissible load is about 80% of the original.
