Lock nuts are used to secure bearings to a shaft or collet.
AN lock nuts are used to secure bearings to a shaft or collet. They have four evenly spaced notches around their outer edge, which fit a hook or impact wrench. The lock nuts are secured to the shaft with a W-type lock washer, which engages in a keyway in the shaft or collet thread. AN series lock nuts can be reused provided they are not damaged.
Precision lock nuts in the KMD series are designed for installations where high precision, easy assembly and reliable locking are required. The three evenly spaced locking pins allow the nuts to be positioned accurately with the correct inclination to the shaft. They can also be adjusted to compensate for small angular deviations of the connecting components. Maximum axial runout between contact surface and thread (up to size 40): 0.005 mm
